Thoughts on Makorra vs. Borra
I feel like if Makorra were to happen, Mako would always be a douche. Sure, maybe he’d mature past his current douchey self, but he’d always be jealous that Korra had more power as a bender. I feel like they’d always be competing for dominance, because Mako’s too stubborn and Korra’s too strong-willed. Bolin, on the other hand, would really appreciate Korra, and encourage her to grow as a bender and a person. And knowing Korra, she’d be sure to return the favor. Wasn’t it Bolin who taught Korra probending techniques? And Mako just sulked and pretended to be unimpressed? The brooding type may be a turn-on, but it wouldn’t work in a sustained relationship. And when Korra got too heated about something, as she’s wont to do, Bolin would be able to calm her down and stop her doing something stupid, whereas Mako would just get angry and fed up, prompting her to do something drastic. Besides the practical reasons, Borra seems more fun, more full of life, as opposed to a more tense Makorra.
I also ship Masami, so, that’s another good con for Makorra.
